Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 14, 2024 (edited May 15, 2024)WAREHOUSE // H E BARREL No. // 19-5 B This is another example of a distillery advertising tasting notes perfectly. All of these notes are from the back of the bottle and they marry together perfectly. NEAT NOSE - Rye Spice, Apricot, Pear, Cinnamon, and Toasted Oak. PALATE - Velvety mouthfeel. The Rye Spice is pleasant throughout the sip and is supported with the cinnamon toasted oak note. FINISH - The apricot and pear come through on the finish. A fruity finish is a nice and pleasant change of pace rather than having oak come through on the finish. BUY? - Absolutely. BUY AGAIN? - Shelfer. One of the best and most affordable bourbons (and single barrels) on the market! -
NEAT NOSE - Caramel and Maple with a stronge Orange Peel note PALATE - Silky smooth with the orange peel coming through first supported by a strong maple note with undertones of caramel towards the finish. FINISH - Short BUY? - Yes. This is one of the best budget bonded bourbons you can buy in my opiniom. I prefer it over the beloved Evan Williams 100. BUY AGAIN? - Yes. Automatic shelfer at the price.

Redwood Empire Grizzly Beast Bottled in Bond Bourbon (Spring 2018 Vintage)
Bourbon — California, USA
Reviewed May 6, 2024NEAT NOSE - Lots of Caramel with hints of Cherry PALATE - Sticky, viscous caramel that coats the palate supported by some cherry on the back-end. FINISH - Unbelievably smooth but short, unfortunately. BUY? - Absolutely, but I’d love to see the price about $10-15 lower. BUY AGAIN? - Maybe not this batch due to the price, but I do look forward to future batches. -
NEAT NOSE - Pear, Faint Green Apple, and Caramel with smoky undertones PALATE - Pear and A little bit of caramel are the most obvious notes that come through on thr palate. I’m not getting much if the apple and the peat is light on this one which is nice. FINISH - Short BUY? - Nice introduction to scotch to see if it’s something you’d enjoy. BUY AGAIN? - Good for the price, but I’ll probably be buying another one of their expressions before I buy this one again since I don’t drink much Scotch.

Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 3, 2024 (edited May 4, 2024)NEAT NOSE - Caramel, Vanilla, and Honey PALATE - The nose transfers to the palate lightly, with all three notes intertwined evenly. FINISH - Medium, Sweet BUY? - Yes BUY AGAIN?- Yes -
SPEC’s SINGLE BARREL NEAT NOSE - Raspberries, Caramel, and Oak PALATE - Velvety mouthfeel. First, the caramel note fills the palate and is the most prominent and a slight hunt of raspberry comes through on the backend. FINISH - Medium in length comprised of notes of light oak and apple. BUY? - Absolutely, at SRP. BUY AGAIN? - Only at retail. This is a good bourbon, but not worth paying secondary prices in my opinion.

Rebecca Creek Double Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Texas, USA
Reviewed April 22, 2024 (edited April 24, 2024)BARREL # - 200065 BOTTLE # - 86 ABV - 62.25% PROOF - 124.5 NEAT NOSE - Heavy Oak, Blackberries, Maple, and a little bit of caramel PALATE - Oak is the most dominant note and the other notes sneak in behind the oak: each one showing itself more than the others randomly sip after sip. FINISH - Not much of a burn or bite, but it’s bug bold and strong for sure with a long finish. BUY? - Absolutely. This is one that has flown under the radar for sure. BUY AGAIN? - Yes -
Woodford Reserve Wheat Whiskey
Wheat Whiskey — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 21, 2024 (edited April 22, 2024)NEAT NOSE - Sweet Vanilla and Honey. I don’t get any oak. PALATE - Velvety mouthfeel where the nose transfers over to the palate perfectly. FINISH - Smooth and Short BUY? - I’d recommend at this price point. As a wheater, I prefer it to the regular offerings of Maker’s Mark or Larceny. BUY AGAIN? - Possibly, it’s a quality pour.
